In this virtual coding club, participants will first learn about augmented reality and 3D designing by creating holograms. Then, they will learn about game creation by creating their own games.
Weeks 1 and 2: Creating holograms that you can hold in your hands using the Merge Cube and CoSpaces.
Merge Cube is a physical paper or foam cube with interesting patterns on it. When the physical cube is scanned by your phone using the CoSpaces Edu app (like a QR code) it turns the cube into an Augmented Reality experience by projecting your creation on the cube. As you rotate the cube in your hands, you will be able to see your creation from different angles.
Weeks 3 and 4: Game creation using the Unity app, a game development platform for mobile!
**In order to participate, you will need to have a computer/laptop (Unity is only compatible on Macbook and Windows) and access to a phone (iOS or Android) to download the Merge Cube app.**
Merge Cube pick-up will be available via our Curb & Carry Service at the Central Library only starting on January 25 - for more details, visit www.kpl.org/curbandcarry
