Once your novel is finished, the next step is to write a query letter--a 250-400 word description of your entire book--that snags a literary agent's attention, and makes them want to request pages to read. By dividing the query letter into three distinct parts--the HOOK (a 1-2 line description of the main conflict in your story, the thing that makes your book special and will "hook" a reader), the BOOK (the meat of your story...with just enough detail to intrigue but not overwhelm), and the COOK (this is about you! And why you're the best person to be writing this book, or how your writing compares to other recognizable authors and novels)--you'll learn exactly what needs to go into this critical one-pager...and what doesn't.
