7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Event Details

EXHIBIT RUNS until MARCH 30

Tara is a Waterloo based 9-year-old Canadian with Persian and Turkish roots. She loves creating new worlds, composing new stories by collating the ones she hears and reads, creating new languages and re-discovering through her portraits her beloved ones.

Her artworks reflect the diversity of the inspirational sources, both personal and cultural, and the multilingual and multicultural environment in which she has been growing up both in Istanbul, Turkey and Waterloo, Canada.

In her works, she often combines various styles, techniques and materials such as drawing, painting, marbling (Ebru: a traditional art from Turkey) and collage using watercolour and watercolour brush pen, pencil crayon, gel pen, pastel, tissue, paper, bead, coloured ribbon and other materials with different daily uses.

Tara’s paintings were previously took part in Expressions 42 (2017) and Expressions 44 (2019) exhibitions at Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. Her work Karamarine, running on land, sea and air, was among the winning Canadian entries from the 2019 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.

This first solo exhibition brings together a selection of her colourful portraits and the fund raised from this exhibition will be donated to KidsAbilityTM.
