Get Set to Grow: Who Are Pollinators

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Central Library
Meeting Room D+E

Event Details

When we hear the word pollinator, most of us think of a bee.  Join Tanya Olsen, owner of Royal City Nursery in Guelph, to find out what other unsung heroes are found pollinating your crops this season.  From lacewings to hummingbirds, squirrels to hover flies (and yes, even the dreaded wasp) these creatures all play a significant part in our lives.  In addition to learning about some of lessor known pollinators, we will discuss how to create an ecosystem in your garden that will not only attract them the first time, but sustain them for the foreseeable future.

Speaker:

Tanya has over 35 years  of horticulture, design, landscape and retail experience. As the 3rd generation owner of Royal City Nursery, she has created a partnership that understands that creativity, hard work, a passion for growing and creating beautiful spaces is the key to success. Developed as a cucumber farm and nursery growing operation with a cedar shed for retail space by her grandfather in the 60’s to now 5.5 acres of growing and retail land, Royal City Nursery continues to work to be an active part of the growing Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge communities.

No registration required.

These programs are a joint initiative of the Kitchener Horticultural Society and the Kitchener Public Library.
