About Laurier@KPLLaurier’s Faculty of Music and Kitchener Public Library are excited to team up to present this series of free mini-concerts this fall. The special Laurier@KPL music concerts are part of the library’s popular “Music in the Lounge” program. All music performances take place in the reading lounge at Kitchener’s award-winning Central Library, located at 85 Queen Street North.
For Laurier, it’s all about reaching out to the community. “An important part of what we do at Laurier is to serve the needs of the wider community” says Glen Carruthers, Dean, Laurier Faculty of Music. “We have over 500 music students and over 60 full-time and part-time faculty who are always looking for ways to engage new audiences. This partnership with Kitchener Public Library provides an ideal outreach opportunity for our outstanding students and faculty.”
For the public library, the partnership with Laurier’s Faculty of Music is an ideal complement to their community outreach efforts as well.
“One of the library’s key strategic goals is to create a vibrant community space where everyone is welcome to learn, work, connect and have fun” says Mary Chevreau, Chief Executive Officer of Kitchener Public Library. “By working together with Laurier’s talented students and faculty to present these high caliber free concerts in one of the most welcoming and accessible spaces in town, everyone wins.”
