Learn about the skills and standards of practice expected of Community Interpreters...and what is expected of you to work effectively with them.

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services, in partnership with Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, is offering a FREE workshop to build the skills of service providers who work with interpreters when providing service and care to clients with limited English and to explore the risks of compromised communication when language barriers are not adequately addressed.

The workshop will explore the following topics:

  • Health Equity through Language Support
  • Consequences of unaddressed language barriers
  • Preferred language screening
  • When do we need an interpreter?
  • Who is qualified to interpret?
  • Modalities of interpretation: over-the-phone/remote vs in-person
  • Hot tips for working with interpreters
