Earth Day: Problem-Solving with Nature (In-Person)

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Central Library
Children's Programming Room

Event Details

Nature has solved many problems through trial and error over millions of years. Did you know that humans have been inspired by nature to solve problems? Velcro was an idea from the pesky burrs of a Burdock plant - you know those burrs that get stuck on your socks when you go for a walk through patches of wilderness? And did you know that and that bullet trains were designed after kingfisher beaks that dive into water without making a sound? This year for Earth Day, we will explore more examples of solutions that have been inspired by nature and how we humans can learn from and work with nature to solve problems and protect our planet!

Play games, learn about some of inventions that were inspired by nature, and then design your own problem solving invention by observing nature.
