The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) is the regulator of motor vehicle sales in Ontario. Part of OMVIC's mandate is to protect consumers by educating them before embarking on their next (or first) vehicle purchase.  OMVIC's Car-Buying Seminar will teach you:

  • The difference between buying from a registered dealer and buying privately 
  • What dealers must tell you about a vehicle's past use, history and condition 
  • How to research a vehicle's history 
  • What to consider when choosing your next vehicle 
  • How to review dealer advertisements 
  • When consumer protection laws apply 
  • How to avoid buying from an illegal, unlicensed dealer 
  • What to do if you have a problem with a purchase

Registration is required.

This virtual program will take place via Zoom. Zoom is a video conferencing tool that allows people to meet together online. You can use Zoom on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. You will receive a link to the program by email on day the prior to or the day of the program.
