Lindhout, author of the harrowing but triumphant memoir A House in the Sky, will be interviewed by Michelle Shephard, national security reporter for the Toronto Star. Join us for what is sure to be a thought-provoking evening. 


Amanda Lindhout is an author, public speaker, journalist, activist, and traveller. She has written features for Macleans, the National Post, and Flare. An internationally renowned public speaker, she visited more than 25 countries last year as a keynote speaker. She is also an award-winning humanitarian and founder of the Global Enrichment Foundation, a non-profit that supports women and children in Somalia and Kenya.

Michelle Shephard is the national security reporter for the Toronto Star and the author of two books: Decade of Fear – Reporting from Terrorism’s Grey Zone and Guantanamo’s Child. Her work has earned her several prestigious journalism awards, including the Michener and three National Newspaper awards. She is also a documentary filmmaker and the 2015 recipient of the Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy.
