Soundscape and Synthesis for Electronic Music - Session 1

Event Details

A two-part electronic music workshop with the University of Waterloo Tape Music Club! Feel free to come to both sessions or just one - Session 2 is on July 29th.

Everything that's needed will be provided, but if you want to bring your own laptop computer, please do. All the software we will use is free and multi-platform.

Session 1 will focus on the use of found sounds in music, music without rhythm, noise, and drone music. We will build soundscapes and performance approaches for this kind of music using a podcasting soundboard as our instrument. The software we will use, Soundplant 47, will also let us manipulate and edit the sounds in real time and extend the expressive possibilities of our computer instruments.
